From the time you first play catch, to the moment you realize you many never put on a helmet again, football gets in your blood. Since 1869, the American brand of football has taken the world by storm. As of January 2018, over 70% of American consumers consider themselves fans of the NFL. That number is massive and doesn’t begin to take into account the fandom associated with community football programs, like Pop Warner; high school football, the many levels of college football, nor the impact American football has had in other countries such as China, Germany, Australia, Canada, Mexico and many more.
The United Kingdom had over 4 million people watching the Super Bowl! But the love for football has grown well beyond watching from the bleachers or TV. People are rushing to play the world’s greatest game; including women! The UK saw an increase in participation, to 50,000 registered players between 2011 to 2014!
What makes this game special? The list is endless.
Autumn ushers in football season, with the cool breeze, the fallen leaves, the smell of the grass and the distant sounds of dozens of personalities coming together for a common goal. No other sport captures the need for teamwork like football. Eleven different personalities all counting on the person next to them to do their job, to be in place. The camaraderie established through late summer practices, from the pee wee ranks to those that make it as a college player, often last a lifetime.
At Gridiron Icon, we want to celebrate every moment of glory. From that first playground touchdown to the moment you hang up your helmet for good; we aim to keep the memories, fun and life lessons alive through unique apparel and accessories. Our brand is made by former players (that could never run over a 4.7 40-yard dash!) for former or current players and fans.
Our products are not currently licensed with the NFL or NCAA, but that was by design. We want to go beyond our love for professional football and include products that capture every aspect of the football journey, from pee wee to the pros. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we don’t sacrifice the X’s and O’s where possible.
